When Sofia and Lorenzo began planning their destination wedding in Puerto Rico, they envisioned a celebration that captured the timeless character of a vintage San Juan; where colonial architecture, tropical landscapes, and the timeless elegance of the Vanderbilt Hotel came together in a Caribbean setting.

Working alongside an incredible creative team—with wedding planning by Trendy Events, photography by Love Bears, and décor by Emilio Olabarrieta— we partnered with them to create a custom wedding identity, from the save the date to the invitation suite and day-of stationery, translating that vision into a cohesive guest experience. Orchids, palm trees, and subtle references to the island's coastline appeared throughout the suite, balancing vintage elegance with the warmth of Puerto Rico.

That visual language became a tribute to Puerto Rico: joyful, timeless and nostalgic.

The Save the Date

Capturing the excitement of a planned destination trip, or that feeling one gets when receiving a postcard from a loved one across the world, the save the date was designed to build anticipation. It carries a vintage quality, conveyed through a memo typography, a warm sepia palette, and illustrated palm trees that frame the composition.

At the center, a detailed illustration of two travelers - representing Sofia and Lorenzo themselves - offers the first glimpse into the world of the celebration.

The Invite Suite

One of the defining elements of this wedding is the attention to detail; the beauty in the cuts, the texture, the looseness of the watercolor painting. All of it reflects one of Clemente's core philosophies: creativity at the forefront.

The invite suite was designed as a layered experience, allowing each piece to reveal a new part of the story. Before anything is even opened, the orchid offers a first glimpse of what's inside. Next comes the watercolor sleeve featuring the church, shifting the focus from the Vanderbilt Hotel (the star of the save the date) to the ceremony itself.

Tucked within, a postcard-style watercolor of the beach where the bride spent her childhood summers introduces the welcome party, adding another personal chapter to the suite.

At its center sits the invitation itself with its muted sepia palette, vintage-inspired typography, and generous use of white space allow the craftsmanship to shine. Printed on cotton and linen paper, every piece carries a tactile warmth that reinforces the suite's timeless, nostalgic character.

Tablesetting Pieces

The tablesetting suite brought the visual world of the wedding into the reception itself: escort cards, table numbers, placecards, and menus, each with its own role to play.

The escort cards were designed to feel whimsical and light, like butterflies; meant to charm guests and carry them effortlessly to their seats. Once there, the mood shifted slightly. The menus, placecards, and table numbers drew their inspiration from the ornamental details of the Vanderbilt's facade, grounding the table in the elegance and architectural richness of the venue itself.

Favorite Piece: The Itinerary Card

Rather than presenting the weekend itinerary as a traditional card, it was reimagined as an interactive piece inspired by the floating form of a tropical water lily. Layered, pages rotate around a central binding button, allowing guests to reveal each event as the piece unfolds.

The design is a subtle tribute to Puerto Rico's lush waterways and tropical landscape, where nature became one of the celebration's defining influences. Equal parts functional and sculptural, the itinerary turned practical information into a keepsake worthy of the occasion.

Custom Pieces (Scarf, Guestbook, Fan)

Some of the most memorable elements of this wedding were custom pieces designed to live beyond the celebration.

The guest signing book offered a thoughtful alternative to a traditional guest book. Designed to become a decorative piece in the couple's home, it featured the Puerto Rican orchid on one side and a few lyrics from their first dance on the other. Rather than relying on obvious personalization, the details were intentionally subtle, which created something guests would discover over time.

The custom scarf celebrated one of Puerto Rico's most iconic landmarks: Iglesia San José in Old San Juan. Established in 1532, it is one of the oldest churches in the Americas, making it a fitting tribute to the setting of the celebration. Illustrated with tropical palms and a soft palette of greens and warm neutrals, the scarf became both a wearable keepsake and a love letter to the island.

Completing the collection was the custom fan, one of our favorite pieces to create. Featuring another hand-painted illustration inspired by Puerto Rico's lush tropical landscape, it was designed to be as practical as it was beautiful. Throughout the celebration, guests carried the artwork with them, turning a simple accessory into an interactive part of the wedding experience, and a souvenir they could take home.
